With a background in marketing, communications and non-profit management, April brings a diverse set of skills to Gambel Communications clients. As senior director of public relations, she oversees Gambel’s internal systems to optimize client service delivery, provides critical support for the overall operational management and leads our social media strategy efforts across the agency and recently attended a nationally recognized Social Media Conference to further develop her skills and understanding of this constantly changing resource for our clients.
An avid sports fan, April began her career working in minor league sports. First, for the Louisiana IceGators, a minor league hockey team in Lafayette, and then for the Montgomery Biscuits, the double-A baseball affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays in Montgomery, Alabama. April led a wide array of marketing and communications strategies including fan entertainment, community relations and social media.
Wishing to return home to the New Orleans area, April later joined the Muscular Dystrophy Association where she served as Executive Director for almost ten years. Her role included public relations, executing special events and developing client relationships throughout the state of Louisiana.
April was recently elected to serve on the board for the Press Club of New Orleans and is a former board member of American Marketing Association New Orleans. She is an active member of the Jefferson Chamber Education and Workforce Development Committee and volunteers her time as a Board Member for Swollfest Fishing Rodeo which is held in Grand Isle every June and benefits children’s charities and military families.
April graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations.
Outside of the office, you can find April strolling through City Park with her dog Murphy, dancing to live music at every festival or watching LSU and Saints games.
