Amidst the chaos of the COVID-19 crisis, our community has come together to make the best of a terrible situation. From free meals for essential personnel to musical tributes to keep sprirts high, New Orleans has inspired us to keep moving forward and stay as resilient as ever.

In that spirirt, we are highlighting some clients who have created positivity in this uncertain time.

STEAMBOAT NATCHEZ | CALLIOPE TRIBUTE TO ELLIS MARSALIS

To commemorate the extraordinary life of musician, Ellis Marsalis, on April 3, the Steamboat NATCHEZ honored him with a tribute on the Steam Calliope. Debbie Fagnano, known in the community as Ms. Calliope, led the muscial tribute to a heartbroken New Orleans and in doing so, garnered both local and national media attention.

ZEA ROTISSERIE BAR & GRILL | #QUARANTINECUSINE

Zea Restaurants have stayed comitted to feeding New Orleans from a distance during the COVID-19 crisis. Customers can purchase family style meals for takeout that are delivered right to your car door. Additionally, Chef Greg Reggio and his team are selling #quarantinecuisine t-shirts and giving all profits back to Zea employees working during the pandemic.

CAMELLIA BRAND | VIRTUAL GATHER ‘ROUND

Camellia Brand knows firsthand how food brings comfort in uncertain and challenging times, especially during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Camellia's hope was that this virtual event — filled with family fun, music and an opportunity to give back — would brings the community together while staying physically apart. On May 1, families gathered in an act of solidarity, embracing the tradition of creating the ultimate Louisiana comfort food: a pot of red beans and rice.

CHURCH OF THE KING | PRAYNOLA

On April 5th, a handful of regional pastors and government officials participated in PrayNOLA, an online prayer gathering livestreamed across the region. This multi-denominational prayer service included Governor John Bel Edwards, St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper, Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng and New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell united together in the face of the COVID-19 crisis.

Notre Dame Health Systems| 3D PRINTED SUPPLIES

Tulane University medical students Catherine Gilbert and Jorge Nagel and Lusher Charter School engineering professor Matt Owen provided Notre Dame with face shields that they produced with a 3D printer. Lusher also donated much needed gloves and cleaning supplies to Chateau de Notre Dame, and Tulane University made hand sanitizer with help from the chemistry department.

LOUISIANA POLICY INSTITUTE FOR CHILDREN| COVID-19 IMPACT WEBINARS

COVID-19 has had a tremendous impact on education and child care across the nation and New Orleans. To keep the public informed, Louisiana Policy Institute for Children led a series of webinars addressing the changes and proposing solutions to recover from the impact. These helpful webinars have brought attention to the needs of the population and positioned LPIC as an expert in its field.

BLUE PLATE MAYO | LOAVES OF LOVE

Mahony’s Po-Boys & Seafood teamed up with iconic New Orleans brands Leidenheimer Baking Co., Blue Plate Mayonnaise, Chisesi Brothers and local hospitality industry partners to launch “Loaves of Love.” This campaign helps feed front-line nurses, doctors, first responders and hospital workers directly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing healthcare crisis in New Orleans.
