KID smART opens applications for Bloomberg Philanthropies Arts Internship program
Summer program will match interns with arts and culture worksites in New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS – KID smART is proud to have been selected as a partner for the 2025 Bloomberg Philanthropies Arts Internship program for the second year. This exclusive arts internship program designed specifically for rising high school seniors is an eight-week summer program that will offer more than 25 students paid internships at arts and cultural organizations throughout New Orleans.
“KID smart is proud to be selected again this year as a partner for the Bloomberg Philanthropies Arts Internship program,” said Elise Gallinot Goldman, Executive Director of KID smART. “We are thrilled to support the vibrant creative industries in our city and look forward to seeing the incredible impact these talented students will make.”
Since 2012, the Bloomberg Philanthropies Arts Internship program has supported over 1,700 internships at more than 250 cultural organizations across seven cities, including New Orleans.
Data from the New Orleans Summer 2024 Interns indicated a 19% increase in their oral communication skills assessments and a 17% increase in their knowledge of arts and culture in the city. Interns attributed that growth to the access that the program provided to parts of New Orleans they had previously not explored.
The internship will consist of set work hours a week along with program cohort days dedicated to college and career readiness, cultural experiences, and field trips. KID smART will match worksites with interns whose skills and passions match their unique needs and mission.
This year, for the first time, interns have opportunities to continue in the program past high school, further developing professional skills to prepare them for a career after graduation.
Founded in 1999, KID smART has served more than 63,000 students and 11,000 teachers, providing underserved students with the opportunity to experience dynamic, creative, and relevant learning through the arts.
