Bridge House / Grace House Hosts Cochon Cotillion XXIII

Presented by the Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust & Goldring Family Foundation

New Orleans, LA (April 6, 2019) – Acting as the first “unofficial” ball of the 2020 Mardi Gras season, Bridge House / Grace House (BHGH) hosted the Cochon Cotillion XXIII, presented by the Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust & Goldring Family Foundation, on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 6 – 11PM, with a Patron Party from 6 – 7PM, at Blaine Kern’s Mardi Gras World (Eastbank).

The annual celebration is a spoof on the traditional Mardi Gras ball and gives the community another chance to enjoy the New Orleans festivities. Equipped with swine-inspired outfits and floats, King Iggie Perrin and Queen Angelle Verges served as the 2019 monarchs.

“As a long-time participant in the Fore! Recovery Invitational and supporter of Bridge House / Grace House, I am thrilled and honored to be King of Cochon this year,” says Iggie Perrin, “Events like Cochon Cotillion are instrumental to support the work of this organization and help our community overcome the disease of addiction. Vive le Cochon!”

Cochon Cotillion offers attendees a silent auction and raffle, live music from ELS and Mike Morris, an open bar, and food from New Orleans’ best restaurants. The event also features a mini-parade, caricatures, face painting, psychic readings; as well as performances from the Double Step Cloggers, Muggivan School of Irish Dance, and the Pussyfooters.

“We have been proud supporters of Bridge House / Grace House for years,” says Queen of Cochon Angelle Verges, “This is an organization that has served New Orleans for over six decades. Cochon Cotillion is a highlight event of the year that gives back to the pivotal cause of substance abuse treatment, an epidemic affecting almost every family in our community.”

Bridge House / Grace House was founded on the principle that recovery from addiction could not be maintained without an individual’s basic needs being met.  For over 60 years, it has been the mission to provide substance use disorder treatment services to those who have lost everything. Individuals come to BHGH hopeless, helpless, and many who are without the will to live.  They are provided a safe place to recover and provided with the tools necessary to build a new life. It is only through continued support from the community that they are able to keep the doors opened to those who seek it.

Bridge House / Grace House is the only organization offering long-term residential, gender specific treatment in Louisiana regardless of one’s ability to pay. They treat over 800 homeless, indigent, uninsured, and/or unemployed men and women each year.

Tickets for Cochon Cotillion XXIII begin at $100. For more information about the event, please visit https://www.bridgehouse.org/events/cochon-cotillion/. For sponsorship information, to purchase event and/or raffle tickets, please contact Stephanie Clary, CFRE at sclary@bridgehouse.org or call 504.821.7134.

The mission of Bridge House / Grace House is to provide long term residential, gender specific treatment to men and women who have become dependent on alcohol or drugs so that they may lead sober and productive lives.  These services are offered in an atmosphere that promotes dignity, honor and respect regardless of one’s ability to pay.
