New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute Opens Application Period for 2022 Program

Regional program spanning ten parishes brings together business, civic and public-sector leaders

NEW ORLEANS (Jun. 1, 2021) — The New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute (NORLI) will begin accepting applications for its 2021-2022 class today, June 1, 2021. NORLI is open to all business, civic and public-sector leaders in the ten-parish region — Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington. For those interested in the premier leadership program that fosters connections across Southeast Louisiana, the deadline to apply online is Saturday, July 31, 2021.

Each year, NORLI brings together a class of business, civic, and community leaders representing all races, genders, industries and communities with a mission to promote regional collaboration. The program provides a forum for the exchange of diverse viewpoints and is designed to enhance personal leadership skills by examining issues central to the advancement of the entire ten-parish region.

“NORLI provides a nonpartisan platform for thought leadership that allows participants to engage in high level discussions about the most pressing issues to Southeast Louisiana,” said Stephen Reuther, executive director of NORLI. “By building upon the experiences and expertise that our class participants bring to the table, we are able to cultivate greater capacity for civic understanding, engagement and collaborative leadership that will enhance our communities for the future.”

A nine-month program — which will begin in November 2021 and end in July 2022 — NORLI consists of two retreats and seven full-day sessions. The program curriculum examines public policy, education, healthcare, economic development, diversity and equity, criminal justice and environment, and dissects how these focus areas impact the development and quality of life of the New Orleans Region.

How to Apply

Leaders from across the ten-parish region may submit an online application or visit www.norli.org for more information. There is a $50 fee to apply, however, for those who submit their application by June 30, 2021, the fee will be waived.

If accepted into the 2022 NORLI class, participants are required to submit a non-refundable tuition fee of $2,750 which covers all program costs and materials, including meals, as well as all expenses associated with the retreats. Limited support through program scholarships is available on an as-needed basis.

NORLI will host a series of informational sessions about the program and how to apply. Program alumni and current program participants will be on hand to discuss the benefits of the program and answer questions.
