Two Lyceé Français de la Nouvelle-Orleans Students Earn French Baccalaureate

NEW ORLEANS – Lycée Français de la Nouvelle-Orleans (LFNO) students Emmeline Meyer and Titouan Boudenant have earned both a Louisiana high school diploma and the French Baccalaureate. The students will receive their Louisiana high school diplomas at LFNO’s graduation ceremony on May 19 at Loyola University’s Nunemaker Auditorium and receive their baccalaureate certificate in June from France.

LFNO, the only free, public French preK-12 school in the United States, offers this unique approach to education that pairs the Louisiana and French curricula to enable students to earn both credentials at the same time. As a Type 2 charter, LFNO is open to applications from all Louisiana parishes.

Meyer and Boudenant attended French-American and French-International schools leading into their years at LFNO. Both students took the French Baccalaureate exam in Houston in April, capping a two-year series of exams in pursuit of this goal. It is one of the most prestigious high school diplomas in the world and opens up post-secondary opportunities globally for any student who earns it. Titouan will attend university in France on the baccalaureate. Emmeline will attend Tulane University on a full scholarship.

“We are so proud of Emmeline and Titouan,” LFNO CEO Dr. Chase McLaurin said. “Lycée Français de la Nouvelle-Orléans provides students like these two an engaging educational experience that expands their opportunities for college and career. We do this by aligning to the American and French education systems, supporting students in achieving their American diploma and the French Bac.”

Students at LFNO matriculate through American kindergarten through twelfth grade as they concurrently advance through the French cycles:

  • Cycle 1 - Apprentissages Premiers (Early Learning Cycle)

  • Cycle 2 - Apprentissages Fondamentaux (Fundamental Learning Cycle)

  • Cycle 3 - Consolidation Cycle

  • Cycle 4 - Approfondissement

  • Lycée - High School
