Boys Town Louisiana welcomes Alvin Johnson as Board President
NEW ORLEANS – Boys Town Louisiana announced today the appointment of Alvin Johnson to board president effective immediately.
Johnson has served on the Boys Town Louisiana board for over four years. He has been an active member of the board supporting programs and fundraising throughout the year. After watching and learning from previous president Anne Chiang he was inspired to invest further in the youth of his community by accepting the leadership role.
“I remember shadowing a family teacher from the Family Home program at the City Park residence,” says Johnson. “Seeing how the youth were built up through the support and stability Boys Town provided them made me want to take a bigger role. It made me become more engaged and want to help make a difference in this organization.”
Johnson obtained his bachelor’s degree and went to law school at Southern University in Baton Rouge. He worked as an assistant district attorney in Orleans Parish for four years before going into private practice in 2010. Johnson practiced criminal law when he first began his law career, and during this time he observed that most incarcerated citizens come from a family structure that was broken. His experience as an attorney helped him understand the importance of providing resources and opportunities for local youth.
“These programs equip families and youth with life skills to enhance the family bond and build stability,” says Johnson. “As a board member I’ve been able to support their efforts, but now as president I am looking forward to helping lead others to elevate opportunities for Boys Town Louisiana.”

We have worked with Alvin for years now. He has served as a role model for the youth at Boys Town Louisiana and I know he will continue to shine in his new role as president.”
