Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans strengthens leadership with key new hire and strategic promotion
NEW ORLEANS (Sept. 18, 2024) – The Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans is pleased to announce the promotion of Allison Whitt to Director of Housing Services and the addition of Mayté Hernandez to the team as Director of Case Management Services.

Allison’s experience in housing services, combined with Mayté’s impressive background in both mental health and public administration, will undoubtedly strengthen our ability to help those in need.”
Allison Whitt, who has been with Travelers Aid since 2017, has taken on her newest role as the Director of Housing Services. She earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Mississippi State University and a Master of Social Work from Tulane University. Whitt first joined the Travelers Aid team as an intern and has been a dedicated team member for seven years. She began her journey as a case manager in Travelers Aid’s permanent supportive housing program, where she worked to house individuals with a history of homelessness and chronic disabilities. Over the years, she has advanced through several roles, including Rapid Rehousing Supervisor and Housing Services Manager. Whitt is currently pursuing her credentials to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and her expertise will further enhance the organization’s housing programs.
Mayté Hernandez joins Travelers Aid as the new Director of Case Management Services. Born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, Hernandez holds a bachelor’s degree in cellular and molecular biology from the University of Puerto Rico Rio Piedras Campus and a master’s degree in psychology from the City University of New York. She also earned a Master’s in Public Administration from City College of New York and completed the prestigious Colin Powell Graduate Fellowship. Hernandez brings a wealth of experience to the Travelers Aid team, having previously led the development and growth of a mental health care management program for children in Upper Manhattan, with a focus on underserved communities. Her scientific and social services background will be instrumental in shaping Travelers Aid’s case management services to support the unhoused population of New Orleans.
