Louisiana Policy Institute for Children Hires RuthAnne Oakey-Frost, J.D., as Policy Director
NEW ORLEANS, LA (January 16, 2020) — The Louisiana Policy Institute for Children (LPIC) is pleased to announce its recent hire of RuthAnne Oakey-Frost, J.D., who joins the team as policy director. In this role, RuthAnne will focus on developing and implementing policy and messaging strategy for LPIC.
“RuthAnne brings with her a wealth of policy experience which will prove indispensable as we work to make a stronger Louisiana by starting with successful children,” said Libbie Sonnier-Netto, Ph.D., executive director of LPIC. “We are excited to see the impact RuthAnne will have on advancing policies to ensure that Louisiana’s young children are ready for success in school and in life as we enter the 2020 legislative session!”
Prior to joining LPIC, Oakey-Frost most recently served as division director of licensing and compliance for Utah’s Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Utah in political science and between college and law school, she was a United States Senate intern for the Judiciary Committee. Oakey-Frost graduated with honors from the S.J. Quinney College of Law where she worked on the Family Law Journal, was a member of the Jessup International Moot Court team and received a Quinney Fellowship to do research. She also worked at the law firm of Steptoe and Johnson before joining Utah's Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel as an associate attorney.
